The Eleanor Site is a middle woodland village located in Nicollet
County, in South Central Minnesota. It was excavated in the Late 1970's by
Richard Strachan, Kathleen Roetzel, and Christy Hohman-Caine. Although there
have been a number of presentations and unpublished manuscripts, little
published documentation on this site is available. The collection is housed at
Minnesota State University, Mankato. The site had several basin shaped houses
and numerous other features. It can be classified as Havana or Havanoid as a
result of the ceramic and lithic collections. Evidence suggests some dependence
on amaranth, small mammals, fish and fowl.
