Claro Products
Claro products consist of water purification and sanitary containers. After
people bring water from rivers, lakes, or wells to their homes, they add the
purifier and store the water in the containers. The purification
uses a chemical called sodium hypochlorite, which destroys
harmful germs. The container is designed to keep water covered. There is a
spigot near the base of the container which opens and closes with a turning tap.
Since people get water from the spigot without putting cups or hands into the
container, the water is free from recontamination during storing. The following
directions were taken from a marketing book for the Claro program in Bolivia.
How to Use Claro Products
First,
purchase the purifier and a container. The
purifier costs 2 bolivianos (US$0.32) and will last a family of 8
