Introduction History Methods Findings

Methods

This investigation was unique because researchers located archeological materials without actually digging in the ground. They investigated prehistoric materials by using two kinds of equipment: a magnetometer and an electric resistance meter. A magnetometer measures magnetic intensities, and an electric resistance meter senses electric intensities under the surface of the ground. These meters detected archeological remnants that created localized magnetic or electric changes opposed to the surrounding areas. Once the geophysical survey was completed, researchers excavated a small part of the site in order to verify the findings.
