Introduction Interviews Findings Recommendations

Recommendations

With the findings, the anthropology students formulated two recommendations regarding housing videos and increased interaction:

Housing Videos

Videos will help refugees from Somalia and Sudan become familiar with the American housing system. Videos in their native languages are more useful than bilingual brochures because they are usually not literate in their native languages.

Increased Interaction

Interaction between immigrants and other residents in the community will increase their awareness of each other. Community based gatherings, such as neighborhood barbeques, can provide them with opportunities to get together. Simple conversations between individuals serve as the first step for effective communication beyond cultural differences.
