Introduction
Tristina
Brown, a student at Minnesota State University, Mankato (MSU), worked to
build a playground at an elementary school in Zwelihle, the black
residential area in South Africa. Because of former racial segregations in
South Africa, some elementary schools in these areas do not
have playgrounds for children.
While studying at MSU, Tristina sold books around her neighborhood in order to raise funds
for the playground project. She collected more
than $1500, and the playground was completed in 2003.

Zwelihle
is marked with purple circles near Cape Town.
