The stalk was cut up, dried, and pulverized. It was then steeped in warm water and drank. It was used for the physic. Root mixed with mugwort used to wash hair and make it grow.
Drymocallis arguta (Pursh.) Rydb. (fire-finger)
The root was dried and crushed and either applied to incisions in the temples or moistened and inserted in the nostrils to calm convulsions. The root was dried, pulverized, then moistened when put on cuts.
Dyssodia pupposa (Vent.) Hitchc. (fetid marigold; prairie dog food)
The leaves and tops were mixed with water and used for colic in children. Also for consumption.
