Mentha arvensis L. (wild mint)

It was used as a carminative, and also to flavor meat, as well as deoderize traps.

Mentzelia nuda (Pursh) T.&G.

The stems were pounded to extract juice which was boiled and then applied to skin to reduce fever.

Mirabilis nyctaginea (Michx.) MacMill. (wild four o clock)

The root was boiled and drunk for fever. The root mixed with Echinacea angustifolia removes worms. Also those two boiled together was rubbed on body to reduce swellings. The root chewed, was put on wounds. Dried root was applied to sore mouths of teething babies. A drink was also made for women to reduce abdominal swelling after childbirth.

Monarda fistulosa L. (wild bergamot; horsemint)

The flowers and leaves were boiled together and drunk for abdominal pains. The leaves were also applied to skin blemishes.

Monarda mollis L. (horsemint)

The flowers and leaves were steeped and applied to sores, or to bathe children in for skin eruptions. The flowers and leaves were also dried, powdered, and moistened and applied to burns, especially scalds.

Nepeta cataria L. (catnip)

The leaves were mixed with water, drunk to reduce fevers or leaves mixed with leaves of mountain mint and drunk for fever.
