- Caribou - clothing, unique structure of fur makes it very
warm
- Muskoven - meat and fur, shed under fur is collected and spun
into wool
- Northern fur seal - pelts
- Moose - food, clothing and implements
- Polar Bear - clothing, rugs and blankets, guard hairs are also
used for fly tying. Sometimes the meat is eaten.
- Bearded seal - hides and food
- Steller's Sea Lion - clothing, boots, and boat coverings were
made from skins. The Chinese once used Steller's sea lion whiskers for cleaning
opium pipes. Also used for food.
- Collarred lemming - fur to trim garments
- Porcupine - quills for decoration, and sometimes food
- Eiders - eider down used in sleeping bags and comforters
- Beaver - pelts
- Lynx - modern pelts are valueable
- Hares - fur for shoe linings
- Arctic Fox - furs
- Mink - fur
- Muskrats - food and fur
- Wolverine - fur especially as parka trim and hoods because it
doesn't frost
- Puffin - skin for clothing
- Ringed Seal - Among other things, the skin furnished harnesses
for huskies, and soles for kamiit (boots).
