Fleming

The Fleming people live in the lowland country of Belgium. They speak the Flemish language which is very similar to Dutch. The majority of the Fleming people live in the northern region of Belgium called Flanders. Other cultures that live in Belgium are the Walloons in the south and a small portion of Germans in the east, but the Fleming are the majority culture in the country. There has never been any real conflicts with any of these cultural groups although there have been minor political conflicts between the Walloons and Flemings. Belgium ranks as one of the 10 richest countries in the world. It is a typical western culture where people work in offices or the many banks in Brussels, eat out at fast food restaurants or watch television. Some common Fleming last names include Peeter, Janssen and Mae. Belgium and the Fleming people are very prosperous people and are very proud of their heritage and culture.
