Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospital

In 1967, members of the boards of Immanuel Hospital and St. Joseph's Hospital began considering consolidation and the benefits of consolidation. They felt that they could share laboratory and x-ray facilities, avoiding duplication and and concentrating on health personnel. In November, 1968, the consolidation was approved. In 1989 work began on a 45,000 square foot, 6 million dollar addition.

Today, the hospital is licensed for 272 beds. There are more than 160 active, courtesy, and consulting medical staff, with 29 specialties represented. These people are either independent physicians or part of the local Mayo-owned multi-specialty group. Services offered at Immanuel-St. Joseph's include 24 hour emergency care, a regional cancer center, orthopedic services, sports medicine, physical therapy, women's and children's services, inpatient and outpatient surgery, chemical dependency treatment, family counseling services, home care, and hospice. Expansions have included new facilities for emergency medicine, a regional cancer treatment center, cardiac diagnostic/catheterization services and cardiac angioplasty/stent placement, same day surgery preparation and recovery, women's and pediatrics in-patient care, behavioral medicine, outpatient services, and a 105,000 square foot medical office building.

Clinic

In 1964, a new 32,000 square foot clinic facility was built at 501 Holly Lane. This was the third major expansion of the clinic that now accomadated 25 physicians. In 1980, another 20,000 square foot office spance expansion was added.

In 1992, the Mankato Clinic completed its fifth and greatest expansion in its 76-year history. This new 105,000 square foot facility was built at a cost of $10 million and is located on the Immanuel-St. Joseph Hospital campus. The building is owned by Immanuel-St. Joseph and is leased to the Mankato Clinic. It is designed to accomadate up to 60 physicians, as well as the staff of more than 200 nurses, technologists, and other support personnel.

In addition to a highly qualified core staff of physicians in Family Practice, Internal Medicine, Obstetrics/Gynecology and Pediatrics, the new Mankato clinic also includes a specialty care staff. The current specialty care staff includes physicians in Allergy/Asthma, Audiology, Cardiology, Dermatology, Facial Cosmetic Surgery, Gastroenterology, Nephrology, Neurology, Ocuupational Medicine, Onocology, Opathalmology, Otolaryngology, Podiatry, Pulmonary Medicine, Radiology, Surgery (minor), Urology, and visiting consultants in Endocrinology, Plastic Surgery, Rheumatology, Pediatric Pulmonology, Pediatric Cardiology, Perdiatric Gastroenterology, and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
