Lenin

Lenin led the Bolshevik party as it came to power and Russia became the Soviet Union. He was the leader of the Bolsheviks as they rose to power during the Russian civil war. At the end of the civil war, Lenin and the Bolshevik's were the winners and became the political leaders of Russia. After the war he began an economic policy called the New Economic Plan that allowed for limited capitalism and was intended to jump start the economy. Other Bolshevik's did not like this plan because of the capitalism it allowed. This plan was fairly successful. Lenin's rule over the Soviet Union was a brief one. He led the revolution and ruled throughout the civil war. The civil war ended in 1921 and Lenin died in 1924.
