        What were the various trade routes of the ancient world?  How did they come to be?  What did these trade routes look like? Who controlled these routes? 

        Who benefited from trade and why?

Commodities

        What was traded on the trade routes?  Where were these items found?  Why were these items so important?  What were these commodities used for? 

Religion on the Trade Routes

        What ideas were spread as a result of trade?  How did religion influence trade?  What problems were encountered because of the spread of certain religions?

Early Anthropological Economic Theory

        How were monetary values established?  What motivated economics in the ancient world?  What influence did early trade have on the rise and fall of certain      civilizations?

Modes of Travel

        How did people travel in the ancient world?  How did the domestication of certain animals benefit trade?  How did inventions like the saddle, wagon, shocks, wheels, etc., come about?  Who built boats and why did they build them in certain ways?  How did or didn’t boats change over time?  Was it best to travel alone, in small groups, or in large caravans?   How did bridges and roads develop over time?

Important Cities

        How did cities arise and why?  What cities were important in ancient trade and how did they become important?  How did these cities affect trade?

Geography/Weather/Climate

        What influence did geography, weather, and climate  have on trade?  How did mountains, corral reefs, volcanoes, etc., affect trade?  How did weather patterns influence trade?

 Archaeological Sites of Trade

        What are some ancient cities of importance?  How did they come to be?  Where are they located?
