Turkey Tail Points

-------------------

Turkey Tail Points can be found in the Midwestern and Eastern United States. They are made from Dover, hornstone, and nodular chert. These points are from the Late Archaic to Woodland periods (4000 to 2500 B.P.).

Turkey Tail Points are medium to large in size, averaging between 5 and 6 inches. They are side notched with a convex base and a very convex blade curvature. The ratio of length to width is approximately 2.75 to 1. These points are sometimes found in caches, or deposits, of up to 200 specimens, most of which have been intentionally broken.
