Amyrteos, (also known as Amyrtaeus) was the former Prince of Sais who took over the Egyptian throne when Darius II died in 404 B.C.E. Before his kingship was established he had already conducted a lengthy six year military campaign against the Persians. Little is known about Amyrteos except that he is the sole member of the 28th Dynasty and that his sphere of influence extended as far south as Aswan.
