Jodoshin shu
Shinran-shonin was the founder of Jodoshin shu. However, he did not try to establish the religious sect. According to records, he was a modest person. The sect was a combination of lessons from Shinran's teacher and Honen, who was the founder of the Joudo sect. Although he had many pupils and followers, they were never acknowledged. He finished writing the basis of the Jodoshin-shu code in 1214 A.D.
Early Buddhist monks did not get married. Shinran-shonin did marry and had children. As a result, later priests got married. Their children took over the priest job in most cases.
