

Central Veracruz is located on the
northwest side of the Papaloapan River along the Gulf of Mexico. It is
considered to be a lowlands as it only reaches about 200 meters above sea level,
although there are high mountains in the southwest. Veracruz is part of a high
seismic zone.
The climate around Central Veracruz is a tropical climate and drier than Southern Veracruz. The average January temperature ranges from 22° to 26° C, and the mean July temperature is less than 26° C. Like all tropical climates, the temperature is relatively stable throughout the year.
The typical vegetation is dry tropical scrub and thorn forest, which is also indigenous to most of Central Mexico, and the Guerrero Regions.
