The Chibcha cultural region encompasses parts of modern Colombia and Panama. The major rivers in this region are the Rio Cauca and the Rio Magdalena. The Pacific shoreline to the west of the region includes low lying marshy area, while the Caribbean shore to the east has a rolling landscape. The valleys of Cauca and Magdalena provide a fertile agriculture zone. The main lake in the Chibcha area is the Lake Gatun, which is located in present day Panama.

Climate

The climate of the Chibcha region is widely varied due to the large land mass it occupies. Some of its many mixed climates are rainforest, desert, highland climates, and tropical coastal areas such as the Galapagos islands.
