The Oneota aspect is part of the Upper Mississippian phase. The Orr and Blue Earth Foci are examples of the Oneota culture.
The Oneota culture consists of many unfortified sites. There is no evidence that the Oneota people had contact with Great Oasis people. There are numerous types of occupations present. House types were usually constructed with bark or mat. There are many types of burials present in the Oneota culture. These include mound type burials and cemetery burials close to the villages. The influences of Mississippian contact includes finds of notched projectile points, bowls, and different types of shells. There are also some copper artifacts found. Only Oneota seem to use catlinite for disc pipes, during this time period. (Tiffany, 1981)
