Red River Aspect

The Red River Aspect is a part of the Lake Michigan phase and the Late Woodland period.

The Red River Aspect is found along the Red River from North to its southern tributary, the Bois des Sioux River, from Lake Traverse to the Canadian border. These waters flow through the middle of the bed of ancient Glacial Lake Agassiz. Most sites of the Red River Aspects are found on the sand beaches of the extinct lake, on both sides of the river.

All known sites are mound sites. These sites are classed as belonging to the Arvilla focus (from the site at Arvilla, North Dakota).

The Red River Aspect is considered as one of the richest of all Minnesota aspects in objects of bone, antler, teeth and shell.
