Dorset
The Dorset Indian culture was located in Melville Peninsula in
present dayCanada.
This Indian culture moved into this region in about 2450 years BP.
This culture had a niche of a small tool tradition. These Indians produced
small and straight projectile points, which they mounted on spears. With these
spears they hunted caribou and many other animals found in the region. Even
though this culture hunted, they were however, more confined to the shorelines
of lakes, rivers, and the sea. The Dorset culture relied on these bodies of
water for their food and material supplies. They obtained these materials by
using knives and blades to spear fish and other animals in the water. The
Dorset culture used the bones from these animal to produce their next year of
tools.
