Lamoka Culture

The Lamoka Culture was based out of the Northeast territory of the United States, and resided mainly in what is now the state of New York. Its climax occurred during the late Archaic Period from about 4500BP-3800BP (Before Present). The Lamoka civilization primarily revolved around small lakes and streams, and large swamp areas. Such tools as beveled adzes, mortars, and, later on, copper tools were found in several different locations. The Lamoka ate mostly animals such as deer, pigeons, and turkeys, as well as a large variety of fish. Marine shell pendants, combs, and musical instruments, such as turtle shell flutes, were found in burial sites of the Lamoka.
