Bat Cave is associated with the Desert tradition and is located in New Mexico. Tools found within the cave are similar to the ones found in both Pinto Basin and Gypsum Cave. It is from Bat Cave that the earliest maize cultivation can be found. Radiocarbon dates on the primitive corn date it to 4000 BC- 3500 BC.
