Malaga Cove

This Indian culture of Malaga Cove, was located a little north of present day San Diego in California. These Indians were also relatives of the earlier Indian culture, the San Dieguito culture. The Malaga Cove derived away from this previous culture and began one of their own at about 7200 years BP. This culture was one of a tool making tradition. They produced many tools such as hammerstones, scraping and cutting tools, usually made out of nearby pebbles or flint. This culture also made leaf-shaped projectile points, also from flint. They used these points to hunts small animals which surrounded them. These animals were these Indians chief supply of food.
