A Little Bit of Theory and a lot of Practice
If you want to earn continuing education credits for your license and engage in thought-provoking discussion about the field of school social work, plan on attending the Minnesota School Social Work Association’s 6th annual School Social Work Institute, June 23-25, 2008, at Superior Shores Resort in Two Harbors, near Duluth, Minn. This year’s Institute is offered in collaboration with Minnesota State University, Mankato and the Minnesota Department of Education.
The theme of the conference is Evidence Based Practice for School Social Workers: A Little Bit of Theory and a lot of Practice and will feature speakers on the topics of Art Therapy, training in use of the BASC, and progress monitoring as part of the Response to Intervention process. The workshops will include hands-on learning experiences that will re-energize you for the upcoming academic year.
Additionally, if you are in need of university credits to take you to the next salary level, or are thinking about pursuing an advanced degree and want graduate credit, Minnesota State Mankato's Extended Learning will offer a Current Topics in School Social Work course in conjunction with the Institute for 1 to 3 undergraduate or graduate credits.
The three-day institute takes place at the scenic Superior Shores Resort & Conference Center on Lake Superior in Two Harbors, Minn.
