MSU Facilities Management Awarded Corporate Award by Mankato Area Council For Quality - October 18, 2012
"Air conditioning needs, attending to a zillion flower beds, fixing pipe and roof leaks, cleaning bathrooms, environmental concerns, floors, buses, parking, lighting, plowing sidewalks, and similar infrastructure things are essential and cannot be ignored. Building new residence halls and academic buildings get the headlines, but their day-to-day care is what counts in the end. With employee wage freezes and other shortages, it has to be tough to keep things going."
"On behalf of the Mankato Area Council for Quality, congratulations to all the full and part-time employees, including student workers, who are part of the MSU Facilities Management team."
- Matt Chmielewski MACQ President

The MnSCU Chancellor's announced the outcome of the campus evaluations last spring and the plaque presentation was made by President Davenport October 13th. For the earlier MnSCU announcement see this article: Facilities Management Wins Competition Again
"This is an achievement worth noting - 10 times in ten years MnSCU compared us with the 32 institutions within the MnSCU system and 10 times we won the "Excellence in Facilities" award plaque. This is a GREAT track record and the workers who deserve the real praise are not locked up in my office eight hours a day but are out on the campus keeping the floors in tip-top shape, nuturing the grounds, making sure the classrooms and offices are just the right temperature, that the roofs don't leak, the lights work, the mail gets processed, deliveries happen, water flows, new equipment is installed, vehicles are road worthy and available for use, the buildings get constructed on time, the streets are plowed, people work in a safe environment, and the list goes on.
"I'm proud to be counted among such a SUPER team of workers who understand the importance of addressing the needs of all of our customer groups, most importantly MSU students." said David Cowan, Interim Assistant Vice President for Facilities Management.
