Annually each summer the staff, students, and faculty members that are under Facilities Management take time out and have a barbacue.
Annually each April volunteers comprised of students, faculty, and staff members take time to do a little annual spring cleaning. These folks care about old MSU's 354 acres.
Each year 85 Volunteers showed up to help plant 10,000 flowers around campus.
MSU has around 73 garden sites scattered throughout campus.

MANKATO, MN – Just in time for Earth Day, Minnesota State Mankato announced the acquisition of two experimental battery driven work vehicles, thanks to a partnership with e-ride Industries, the Minnesota Department of Commerce, and the University.
“We’ve got two units, one for lab work so students can retrofit it to better ensure an extended battery charge, with the other committed to Facilities Management so they can use it around campus,” said Bruce Jones, Chairman of the Automotive & Manufacturing Engineering Technology (AMET) Department.
