Long before they were lurking in closets for a living, Mike and Sulley were just two Scaring majors at Monsters University, dreaming of the day they would make children shriek in terror. When their heated competition to be the most fearsome in their class gets out of hand, however, Mike and Sulley find themselves ejected from the prestigious Scare Program, and they are forced to seek the aid of their oddball friends in order to get their education back on track. In 19th century France, Jean Valjean is released from 19 years of unjust imprisonment, but finds nothing in store for him but mistrust and mistreatment. He breaks his parole in hopes of starting a new life, initiating a life-long struggle for redemption as he is relentlessly pursued by police inspector Javert, who refuses to believe Valjean can change his ways. During the Paris student uprising of 1832, Javert must confront his ideals after Valjean spares his life and saves that of the student revolutionary who has captured the heart of Valjean's adopted daughter. The winner of nine Tony Awards in 1987, it became the second longest-running musical in Broadway history. The 2012 movie musical was nominated for eight Academy Awards, including Best Picture. This is its Minnesota State Mankato debut. It is sponsored by HickoryTech Corporation & Foundation.

8PM Live Acapella: Six Appeal

Centennial Student Union Ballroom

Six Appeal

Is Six Appeal a comedy group, a vocal ensemble, or a rock band? Audiences have been trying to answer that question for years. Swearing off instruments, Six Appeal uses a cappella singing to span decades of classic oldies, current chart toppers, and catchy original tunes. Featuring vocal dexterity and adventurous song selection, the 2012 National Harmony Sweepstakes Champions explore all genres with a far-reaching repertoire that will surprise and captivate any audience regardless of the setting. Despite their cheeky group name, the antics of these six young gentlemen provide a good natured atmosphere for their electrifying performance. A Six Appeal show will split your sides, feed your musical sweet tooth, and leave you wondering how in the world they pulled it off just with voices. Keep watching as Six Appeal continues to "take the a cappella world by storm." Check out more on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/cordsixappeal
