Dan Gediman Campus Visit - August 25 & 26, 2011

One of the editors of our common read book, This I Believe: The Personal Philosophies of Remarkable Men and Women, will come to campus and help us engage in a discussion of beliefs.  For more information on our learning communities program common read, please visit www.mnsu.edu/fye/communities/commonread.html.

August 25, 2011 at 7pm - Ostrander Auditorium

Gediman will give a public presentation on the history and future of the This I Believe project.  This event is open to the public.

August 26, 2011 at 8am - CSU 238

Gediman will host a 90-minute writing workshop for faculty and staff who are interested in supporting students in the writing of their This I Believe essays.  Attendees are invited to join Mr. Gediman for breakfast at 8am, workshop starts at 9am.  Space is limited; register using the STARS system (keyword search "Gediman"). 

This I Believe: Faculty Panel

Thursday, September 15 at 7pm; Ostrander Auditorium

A panel of faculty members from a variety of disciplines will discuss the book and answer students' questions.  This event is open to the public.

Dr. David Engen (communication studies) will moderate the discussion.  Panelists include Reverend Tim Berg (adjunct), Dr. Chris Corley (history, Honors Program Director), Dr. Emily Stark (psychology), and Dr. Sachi Sekimoto (communication studies).

Family Weekend - LC Family Cookout

Saturday, September 17 at 4:30 pm; Spring Lake Park, North Mankato

Join us for our annual family cookout at Spring Lake Park in North Mankato during MSU's Family Weekend!  We'll be set up at shelter #2 with hot dogs, yard games, and fun for the whole family! Learning community students, staff, faculty, and of course family members are welcome to stop by!

This I Believe: World Religions 101 (two part series)

November 10 and 17, 2011 from 5-6 pm; Ostrander Auditorium

Representatives from a variety of religions and philosophies will discuss their beliefs.  Details will be posted soon. This event is free and open to the public.

Make a Difference Celebration

Thursday, December 1, 2011 from 6 - 8pm; CSU Ballroom

A can't-miss celebration!  Come support LC students and celebrate their accomplishments!  Enjoy dinner, LC presentations, slideshow, and entertainment by ComedySportz.  This event is by invitation only.  All LC faculty, LC students, and several MSU administrators will be invited.
