PurposeThe Minnesota State University, Mankato Learning Communities Program provides an opportunity for incoming first-year students to join a community that supports their academic success and transition to college life, as well as encourages students to involve themselves in the different opportunities we have to offer on campus!
Learning community students take some of their classes together and live in the same areas of the residence halls providing an excellent opportunity to connect with other first-year students. Each learning community has their own Learning Community Coordinator (LCC) who is dedicated to the academic success of every member as they transition to college life at Minnesota State, Mankato. The LCC assists each student in setting academic goals, develops study groups for the community, and plans service work, cultural appreciation, and other events.
You're only a first-year student once--and it's the only chance you have to become part of one of Minnesota State Mankato's residential learning communities. You'll meet other students with similar interests and passions, and you'll discover activities that suit you as a student and a person. You'll live and learn in an environment designed specifically for success on campus and beyond. There is no additional cost to enroll.
"My favorite part of the learning community is that the girls I live with are also in some of my classes. As if going to college classes isn't hard enough, not knowing anyone in them can make them even worse. [The learning community] made it so I had one less thing to worry about." - Elementary Education major
"The LC has helped my study skills more than anything. If I was having trouble in any class I could go to my LCC for help or just basically go and discuss the homework with anyone on my floor. Also our study groups were always helpful and being we all lived so close it made getting one together very easy." - Computer Engineering major
