Who qualifies as an Online or Extended Learner?
If you are completing your degree entirely online (no on campus courses) or are completing a program at one of our satellite locations such as our campus in Edina (7700 France), Normandale, etc., you would be an online or extended learner. Click on the appropriate link for a list of current online degree completion programs or off campus programs.
How do I register for Extended and Online Learner Orientation?
First you must be admitted to the University. Once you receive an invitation by mail, you may register for Orientation. Follow the directions on the Register for Orientation page. After answering the initial questions you will be directed to the appropriate Orientation for you and an email will be sent to you with directions on how to complete the online modules.
I am an Online Degree Completion/Extended Learner, but received an on campus invitation for Orientation. Do I need to attend an on campus program?
No. However, please follow the directions for how to register for Orientation on that invitation. It will lead you to the correct Orientation program for you. All Online/Extended Learners must register for Orientation online.
Once I successfully complete Online Orientation, how long until I can register for my classes?
It takes 3-5 business days to process your Online Orientation results. After this time period, your Orientation hold will be removed. You will be able to register as soon as your registration window opens and your hold is lifted.
How do I know my Orientation hold has been lifted?
We do not notify you when your hold is lifted. If your registration window is open, just try to register 3-5 business days after completing your Online Orientation module. You will not be able to register until your hold is lifted.
It has been longer than five (5) business days since I completed Online Orientation and I still am unable to register, what should I do?
Call the Office of First Year Experience at 507-389-5498 for assistance.
Can I complete Online/Extended Learner Orientation even if I am an on campus student?
No, you may not. Online/Extended Learner Orientation is designed for the distance learner who doesn’t attend classes on the Minnesota State University, Mankato campus. The information for Online/Extended Learner is specifically geared towards distance education and services.
