Summer Orientation, Advising, and Registration Dates

Two-Day Sessions

Thirteeen different Summer Orientation Parent/Family program sessions are offered throughout the summer. Each program lasts two days. All two-day sessions tentatively begin at 12:30 p.m. on the first day and end at approximately 4:00 p.m. on the second day.

• Session 1: June 6-7, 2011 (Monday-Tuesday)
• Session 2: June 9-10, 2011 (Thursday-Friday)
• Session 3: June 13-14, 2011 (Monday-Tuesday)
• Session 4: June 15-16, 2011(Wednesday-Thursday)
• Session 5: June 20-21, 2011 (Monday-Tuesday)
• Session 6: June 22-23, 2011 (Wednesday-Thursday)
• Session 7: June 27-28, 2011 (Monday-Tuesday)
• Session 8: June 29-30, 2011 (Wednesday-Thursday)
• Session 9: July 7-8, 2011 (Thursday-Friday)
• Session 10: July 11-12, 2011 (Monday-Tuesday)
• Session 11: July 13-14, 2011 (Wednesday-Thursday)
• Session 12: July 18-19, 2011 (Monday-Tuesday)
• Session 13: July 20-21, 2011 (Wednesday-Thursday)

Invitations for Summer Orientation 2011 will be mailed weekly beginning in April, please make sure that your student has correctly registered you as as guest for the program.

Note: Students are not able to register for Fall 2011 until they have completed an orientation program.
Classes begin Monday, August 22, 2011.

Note: The schedule does not include pre-orientation activities, including Math and English Placement.  Information regarding Math and English Placement will be included in your confirmation email.  There are some presentations you will attend with your student and some are specific to family members.

Day 2

7:15-8:30am - Breakfast and Check-out

8:30am - Financing College

9:00am - Parents in Transition Session

9:45am - Campus Resource Fair and Campus Business

10:30am - Technology at Minnesota State Mankato

10:45am - Faculty Panel

11:15am - Lunch at Carkoski Commons and Residence Hall Tours

12:45pm - Barnes and Noble textbook information

1:00pm - Student Wellness Panel

1:30pm - Residence Life Resources for Parents

2:30- 3:30pm - Online Time for Financial Aid Awards

2:30-4:00pm - Wrap-up and Evaluations

 

Students will need to check out before leaving campus. Academic advising and registration should be complete by 4:00pm.
