The Office of First Year Experience seeks to employ undergraduate students who are committed to assisting new and transfer students with their transition to Minnesota State University Mankato.
The orientation positions require students to serve as positive role models, mentors, discussion leaders, tour guides, educators, or class registration advisors. Summer orientation positions require students to be available from the middle of May through the end of July and periodically throughout the academic year. These positions provide students with campus involvement experience as well as additional benefits.

The Minnesota State University, Mankato learning communities program provides an opportunity for incoming first-year students to join a community that supports their academic success and transition to college life, as well as encourages students to involve themselves in different opportunities the campus has to offer. learning community students take some of their semester classes together and many live on the same residence hall floor providing an excellent opportunity to connect with other first year students.
Each learning community has their own Learning Community Coordinator (LCC) who is dedicated to the academic success of every member as they transition to college life at Minnesota State University Mankato. The LCC assists each student in setting academic goals, develops study groups for the community, and plans service work, cultural appreciation, and other events.
