Page address:

This graduate certificate provides key components for initial licensure teacher requirements in Autism Spectrum Disorders, Developmental Disabilities, Early Childhood Special Education, Emotional Behavioral Disabilities, and Learning Disabilities. This variable-credit graduate certificate provides learners with knowledge and skills necessary to become effective educators. Course competencies related to learning theories, pedagogy, human development, and research-based practices are designed for initial teacher licensure candidates; certificate completion will also enhance the effectiveness of practicing teachers.

The completion of all courses (SPED 509, 511, 513, 514) in this graduate certificate meets MN Board of Teaching (BOT) Licensure Standards in regard to the MN Standards of Effective Practice for an individual seeking an initial MN Teaching license. Students admitted to this program, who are seeking a MN teaching license, must work with an advisor to determine courses needed to meet MN BOT licensure standards.
