Faculty members participating in the Commencement exercises are expected to wear full academic regalia for the ceremony. If you do not wish to rent a gown from the bookstore, a limited number of gowns will be available to use on the day of Commencement, courtesy of the Office of Alumni Relations. Reserve a gown with your college support staff, providing your height and type of gown. On the day of Commencement, simply check out your gown when you arrive at the marching faculty line-up area in the Myers Field House and return it to the same area immediately after the ceremony. Mortar boards and plain black tassels are also available for use during the ceremony.
If you would like to rent a gown, hood or tam, orders must be placed with the Barnes & Noble Bookstore at Minnesota State (389-1649) no later than October 30, 2009 . That is also the deadline for purchasing your own master’s or doctoral gown directly from Barnes and Noble.
