Faculty members participating in the Commencement exercises are expected to wear full academic regalia for the ceremony. If you do not wish to rent a doctoral robe, a limited number of doctoral robes and masters’ gowns will be available to use on the day of Commencement, courtesy of the Office of Alumni Relations and Special Events. Reserve a robe with your college support staff, providing your height and type of robe. On the day of Commencement, simply check out your robe when you arrive at the marching faculty line-up area in the Myers Field House and return it to the same area immediately after the ceremony. Mortar boards and plain black tassels are also available for use during the ceremony.
If you would like to rent a hood or tam, orders must be placed with the Barnes & Noble Bookstore at Minnesota State (389-1649) no later than October 31 , 2008 . That is also the deadline for purchasing your own master’s and doctoral robe directly from Barnes and Noble.
