Bus Services

Mankato Heartland Express (507-625-RIDE) provides bus service throughout Mankato and North Mankato.

Visit The Campus Hub on the first floor of the CSU for more information, to purchase passes, and get route maps. Campus bus information is available online. The City of Mankato also offers bus service.

Call Trace

Residents in the Mankato calling area are able to activate call tracing to identify harassing callers through the local phone company and local law enforcement.

  1. Hang up on the caller. Immediately pick up the handset again and listen for a normal dial tone.
  2. Press * 5 7.
  3. Listen for a confirmation announcement that the last call has been traced.
  4. Hang up.
  5. Contact security at 507-389-2111

Courses offered at MSU

The Human Performance Department offers HP 130: Self-Defense for Women as a general education course. The course works on flexibility, fitness, and a variety of skills related to self-defense in assault-threat situations.

The Women's Studies department offers WOST 120: Violence and Gender, which examines the many aspects of interpersonal violence, including sexual violence, relationship violence, harassment, etc.

Other academic departments, including Sociology & Corrections, Social Work, and Law Enforcement, offer classes that examine aspects of sexual violence, particularly related to professional work.

Other Involvement

The Women's Center is interested in offering peer education, activism, and involvement opportunities in the area of sexual violence prevention. If you are interested in volunteering and working with the Sexual Violence Education Coordinator, please contact her at lauren.pilnick@mnsu.edu or 507-389-5127. You can also stop in 218 CSU. The Women's Center also supports speakers and programming throughout the year, including the White Ribbon Campaign, Sexual Assault Awareness Month, Take Back the Night, The Clothesline Project, and more.
