If you or someone you know is being stalked, here are some things to consider:
- Keep yourself safe and always take care of yourself.
- Make sure friends and family know where you are.
- If you can, firmly and consistently communicate to the stalker that you do not want any contact with him or her.
- Keep a journal documenting all incidents and contacts. Keep this journal in a safe place, and consider making a copy.
- Tell everyone around you about what's going on to have allies in the situation and to break the silence stalkers rely on.
- Consider a formal restraining order.
- Create a safety plan to remove yourself and others from a potentially harmful situation should it occur including where you will go, who you will contact, etc.
- Familiarize yourself with the University's security policies.
