High-Performance computerHigh-Performance Computing at MSU

The High-Performance Computer at MSU is funded by the National Science Foundation to be used for research projects.  It is available for use by faculty in the College of Science, Engineering, and Technology.  The machine has the following specifications:


  • There is one master node and 34 worker nodes.
  • Each node has 8GB of RAM for a total of 280 GB
  • Each node has two dual-core AMD Opteron chips for a total of 4 logical processors.  Thus, the worker nodes contain a total of 136 processors
  • All of the nodes are running the Linux operating system.
