Bryn Mawr Summer Institute June 25-July 21, 2006 The purpose of the Summer Institute is to improve the status of women in the middle and executive levels of higher education administration, areas in which women traditionally have been under-represented. Application for admission is open to women faculty and university administrators whose background, experience, and present responsibilities indicate a potential for professional advancement in higher education administration. Typically participants carry such titles as department chair, director, assistant to the president, assistant dean, associate dean, dean, or assistant vice president. The Institute looks for someone who has administrative experience in her position (faculty who qualify typically are/have been dept chairs, in charge of specific programs within the department, etc), a terminal degree (or in the process of obtaining) for her position, and a sense of her next step in her professional life. Applications will be reviewed by representatives of the President’s Commission on the Status of Women and the MSU Professional Development Committee. President Davenport will identify and write a letter of support for MSU’s selected applicant. A
