Cobra

The "Continuation of Coverage Rights Under COBRA" notification for the HRA was included in the mailing to comply with federal law and is meant for informational purposes only.

COBRA is the option to continue coverage in the HRA when a person loses eligibility due to a qualifying event.  A premium is charged for COBRA continuation of coverage based on the HRA amount that is continued.  COBRA qualifying events are:

  • Spouse is no longer eligible due to divorce or legal separation
  • Child is no longer an eligible dependent as defined by the HRA Summary Plan Description

An employee’s termination of employment is not a COBRA qualifying event because the employee, spouse, and eligible dependents may continue to use the HRA until all the dollars are expended.  However, an administration fee may apply.

For more information, see the “Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) Summary Plan Description” in the State of Minnesota Plan Information menu on the Eide Bailly website at the following link, www.eidebaillybenefits.com/som.

NOTE:
The Employer (State of Minnesota) may amend the HRA Plan at any time and in any manner
that it deems reasonable.
