Navitus Prescription Drug Coverage

To All Insured Faculty and Staff:

Navitus Health Solutions will become the pharmacy benefit manager for the Minnesota Advantage Health Plan beginning January 1, 2008. You will be receiving some mailings from Navitus at your home address in the coming weeks. Watch for these mailings and please don't throw them away! They are not junk mail.

1. Navitus is mailing ID cards and booklets to members this month. Two cards will be mailed to each household. If you would like additional cards, contact Navitus at 1-866-333-2757. Members will need to present a Navitus ID card, not the health insurance card, at the pharmacy when filling prescriptions beginning January 1.
2. Navitus has already mailed notices to members who are on specialty medications that must be ordered through Navitus SpecialtyRX in the future. Those members should call Navitus SpecialtyRX Customer Care at 1-800-218-1488 by December 20 to avoid delays in obtaining these prescriptions in January.
3. Navitus has also mailed notices to members whose prescriptions will be moving from the old formulary copay ($15) to a Tier 3 copay ($36) or whose prescriptions will not be covered under Navitus. These prescriptions will have a transition period of six or three months to give the member time to find an alternative. At the end of the transition period the drug will either move to the higher copay if it is in the formulary list for the MN Advantage Health Plan or else it will be excluded from coverage.

Some prescriptions require prior authorization from Navitus. A list of these drugs and their Prior Authorization Forms are located on the Navitus website. You may wish to check and see if any prescriptions you or your family members use will require prior authorization from Navitus.

The Navitus website, https://www.navitus.com, has additional information for MN Advantage Health Plan members including a complete list of prescriptions and copays, a pharmacy directory, mail-order information, and more.

The change to Navitus on January 1 will not impact the Canadian pharmacy program (see www.advantage-meds.com)[The preceding notation regarding changes to the Canadian pharmacy program is no longer acurate, see Letter from Commissioner Anderson of DOER] and it will not impact the prescription drug coverage for retirees who are 65 or older and have Medicare Part D prescription drug coverage.
