MINNESOTA STATE UNIVERSITY, MANKATO
The Intensive English Language Institute invites your students to spend part of their summer studying English at Minnesota State University, Mankato. With over 2000 staff and faculty working with 18000 students, Minnesota State will allow your students to experience the best of both worlds- access to all the benefits and resources of a large university, but with a small-campus feel. Minnesota State, Mankato will develop a customized program for your students which will allow them to experience American culture in a small, safe community only a short distance from Minneapolis and St. Paul. Cultural activities such as museum visits, musical performances, and sightseeing trips to local (historical and natural) points of interest in the afternoon and evenings will be scheduled. With over 50 lakes located within 15 miles of Mankato, as well as numerous parks and trails, leisure and sport activities will present plenty of opportunities for your students to experience the “Land of Clear Waters”. Not only is the world-famous Mayo medical hospital located not far from Mankato, but the largest shopping center in the US- the Mall of America- is a short drive away in Minneapolis.
The program will be designed for your students’ requirements and will emphasize the language, cultural content, and excursions that you believe would be of most interest and benefit to your students. Whether Academic English, General English or Specialized English is needed, the Intensive English Language Institute will meet your students’ needs. Students will study English for 16 hours a week with class topics which focus on the students’ interests and academic majors. All students will be paired with an American conversation partner who will participate in many of the leisure activities and provide English conversation and interactions. Students will soon realize that learning a language is much more than memorizing vocabulary. During their visit, your students will receive a global experience, learn new ways of thinking and gain a deeper understanding of our multicultural society.
With Minnesota State Mankato organizing housing in university residence halls or with local families, arranging for airport pick-up and return, and focusing on the coordination of cultural and learning activities, you and your students will experience American life and culture at its finest. Come and explore our “Big Ideas, real world thinking” campus and leave the programming to us!
