Application Information

Program Prerequisites

Applicants must have completed a bachelor's degree with a minimum of 15 semester credits in psychology including: introductory psychology, statistics, social psychology, personality theories, and experimental or cognitive psychology. Students with deficiencies in the prerequisite courses are sometimes admitted, although it is generally preferable to complete such courses prior to beginning graduate studies. Perspective students should have a G.P.A. of at least 3.0 for the last two years of undergraduate work.

Application Procedures

To apply to the M.A. program in Industrial/Organizational Psychology at MSU, please complete the following:

1. Application materials can be obtained in four different ways: by emailing us, by downloading the application materials below (you will need Acrobat Reader), by calling us at (507) 389-2724, or by writing to the Psychology Department at:

   After contacting the Psychology Office, you will receive the following materials: Graduate Studies Application, Immunization Form, Industrial/Organizational Psychology Application, Letter of Recommendation Form, The Graduate Studies Bulletin, and information about financial aid.

   To download the application materials, use the links below to obtain the documents. Save the documents to your computer. You may then open them and fill them out directly on your PC. Upon completion of the forms, print them out and send hard copies directly to the appropriate address below.

   • Graduate Studies Application
   • Industrial/Organizational Psychology Application
   • Letter of Recommendation Form (must be filled out and given to each person that will be completing a letter of recommendation for you)
   • Immunization Form
2. Send completed Graduate Studies Application to the Graduate Studies Office, along with a completed immunization form, GRE scores, and official transcripts from your undergraduate institution to:
