International Center Events

International Student Office sponsors various events and nights at Minnesota State University, Mankato year round to make the International Students feel at home. 

Nights and festivals like; South Asian Night,  African Night, International Festival and many others provides you with not only the enjoyment and entertainment but also an opportunity to meet a variety of people from all around the world. 

Upcoming Events Calendar 

The following dates are planned for 2007/08 (printable version):

Japan Night

  • WHEN: Saturday March 1, 2008. Doors open at 6:00 p.m
  • WHERE: Minnesota State University, Centennial Student Union Ballroom
  • WHAT: Come celebrate a night filled with Japanese tradition and culture complete with food, dancing and enteratainment, caligraphy drawing and other interactive activities.

 International Women’s Day: A Celebration of International Cinema

  • WHEN: March 5, 2008  
  • WHERE: Centennial Student Union, Ostrander Auditorium
  • WHAT: Join us for a display of short films throughout the day, produced and directed by women from around the world about issues concerning women from around the world. An array of International teas will be provided outside.

 Africa Night

  • WHEN: March 29, 2008  
  • WHERE: Cenntennial Student Union Ballroom
  • WHAT: A night filled with an array of different cultures from the great continent of Africa. Join us in the sharing of food, cultural and traditional dance, a play and other entertainment.

International Festival (Mankato East High School)

The highest esteemed cultural event of the year!

  • WHEN: Sunday, April 20th, 2008 from 11:00 am- 4:00 p.m.
  • WHERE: Mankato East High School
  • WHAT: An accumulation of culture from around the world brought to the Mankato Community. Join us for a day of food from around the world, entertaiment from many global traditions and gifts from all walks of the world. There will be a Children's World where young people can learn about other cultures, a Flag Parade where the community can observe traditional dress and various information booths and demonstrations.  Mavericks After Dark - International Center as co-sponsor for Saturday, May 3, 2008 at 10 p.m. in CSU 253/4/5.

 HOSTING AN EVENT? NEED VOLUNTEERS?

International Center provides assistance to departments/areas who are interested in having international students volunteer for an event or activity.  If you would like to have international students help with upcoming events please review the Cultural Contribution Hours guide and complete the Event Sign Up Sheet Template. Please submit a completed sign up sheet to the International Center a few weeks prior to the event so we can inform the international student community of the opportunity and allow them to sign up in our office.

You will be responsible for picking up the sign up sheet and contacting the students about where and when they will need to meet. You will also need to keep track of hours each student works and sending the International Center list of students and the number of hours they participated. Please feel free to use your own check in/out sheet or the one provided here: Event Check IN/OUT Sheet.
