International Student Office (ISO) Orientation Logging in to Campus Computers

In order to activate these services, you must first have someone else log into the computer for you. Once they are logged in, you will be able to activate your own account.

While you are enrolled at Minnesota State University, Mankato you get free Email (MavMAIL), File Storage Services (MavDISK) and Web Services (MavWEB). As soon as you have your MavCard (student ID) you will be able to activate these services by logging-in to any computer on campus. To do this you will need two things, your:

1: TechID Your 8-digit student number, which is printed on your MavCard. Note: when logging in, the leading zeros of your TechID can be omitted (e.g. 00587401 can be entered as 587401).

2: PIN (Personal Identification Number)Your personal identification number (PIN) is a number that you use in combination with your TechID to access MnSCU services such as registration and online financial aid information, and your MSU E-services account.

Remember that a PIN and a Password are two different things. A PIN is used only to register for classes whereas Password is going to be used to access MavMail, Mavdisk, MavNET, MavWEB.

* When students first arrive at MSU, they will only have a Tech ID.
* They will need to activate their PIN first: https://www.mnsu.edu/its/userid/reg/?showbill=yes.
* After they have their PIN, they can activate their MavAccount: https://www.mnsu.edu/its/userid/?mav=yes

The first time you use your PIN, it has been preset to one of the following:

• Your birth date in YYMMDD format

• The last six digits of your social security number.

After you log-in for the first time you will need to choose your own PIN number. Your Tech ID and PIN are used to register for classes (after Orientation holds have been removed by the ISO) and to access other e-services such as your billing information, to check grades, change your address, or view your academic record.

Once you have successfully logged in, you can activate your MavMail account by going here: https://www.mnsu.edu/its/userid/?mav=yes

If you are having problems activating your account, you may stop by the resource fair on Tuesday (9 10:30 am in CSU 284) or at 4 pm in the ballroom for the Campus Computer Information session.
