This state-of-the-art center is unique from all other technology labs and resources on campus in that it was designed to be a welcoming, comfortable environment exclusively for MSU faculty and staff. The conception of the center was initiated by MSU's Learning and Technology Roundtable, Memorial Library, the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning, and Information and Technology Services. The Center provides MSU faculty and staff access to new technologies for use in developing skills, materials and strategies for the classroom, coursework and administrative program support.

Development Center

Devo Center

The Development Center provides an environment conducive to learning and sharing information through hands-on workshops on software, including D2L classes offered each semester, customized training as requested by departments and special sessions such as Human Resources (testing and benefits registration help), MnSCU system training, and CETL faculty development session. The twenty two computer stations include one handicap-accessible station. Each semester Training Schedules are mailed to all MSU faculty and staff. Register for a class online.

Digital Seminar Room

The Digital Seminar Room is a comfortable, high tech multimedia conference room that may be scheduled for faculty and staff meetings. The system in the room allows users to include remote participation meetings via ITV, web, voice or video conferencing. The wireless touch screen controls all the multimedia systems includes the phone, built in computer and laptop connections, along with a SmartBoard and whiteboard. Common usages includes focus groups, departmental meetings, user groups, and so on. This often includes individuals and groups from remote locations.

Production Studio

The Production Studio is equipped to develop media for traditional, online or hybrid courses and media for MSU programs. Faculty and staff may produce presentations of themselves using the video recording suite. Using a wireless touch panel and microphone, this allows them to control camera zoom, sound and lighting to produce a final product (such as a DVD).  The Studio also has PC and Mac stations where faculty and staff may use web cams for simple presentation productions; edit and convert tape-based media to DVD, CD or web streaming; or create audio and video clips to insert into their course materials, web sites or presentations. Specialized software is installed on these computers for media editing and producing as well as closed captioning software to update older media and to include in new productions. Faculty and staff may schedule time with Marni Dunning or Linda Jacoby for assistance with instructional design, projects to develop innovative teaching materials or online course development. ITS will assist faculty and staff to get started in using the equipment, software and facilities. Tutorials, books and other resources are also available. Resource Area

Resource Area

The Resource Area provides faculty and staff a relaxing, semi-private space for informal meetings or viewings utilizing the plasma screen with computer, DVD, cable TV and satellite access.

Other Services

Scanning slides to CDs and similar projects for coursework can be done for faculty if requested and as time allows. Faculty is responsible for submitting slides in accordance with Copyright Laws.

Food and Beverages

Food and beverages are allowed in the Resource Area. Only lidded beverages are allowed in all other areas of the TNT.

Fall/Spring: Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Summer: Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Closed when MSU is closed
Open by appointment or by chance during Interim/Breaks

Location

Lower level of Memorial Library in ML 94 across from Math Learning Center. Accessible by the elevator or the stairway located in the Library lobby, between the two sets of main entrance doors.
