Residence Hall Device Registration

In order to register your device, you will need to have your device's MAC Address. You can find steps for common devices below.

After you have this information, go to https://packetfence1.roch.mn.charter.com/device-registration to finish registration. If this link does not work, call ResTech Services at 507-389-5489 or the IT Service Desk 507-389-6654.

Note: You MUST be connected to the ResLife Network in the residence communities. The registration process will not be possible from any other network.

To find the MAC Address of your console, follow the directions from the list below:
If your device is not listed,
search Online to find instructions for locating the MAC Address for your device.

Xbox 360

  1. In the Xbox Dashboard, go to the far right 'Settings' tab and open 'System.'
  2. Select Network Settings.
  3. Select either Wireless or Wired connection.
  4. Select Configure Network.
  5. Within Configure Network, under the 'Additional Settings' tab, select Advanced Setting/Host Name/Alternate MAC Address.
  6. Your MAC Address is displayed in the middle-left of the screen.

Xbox One

  1. Press the Xbox Button to return Home.
  2. Press the Start Button and select Settings (or select Settings on the Home Screen).
  3. Click the Network Button in the settings page.
  4. Select Advanced Settings.
  5. Select IP Settings on the left hand side and the Wired MAC Address will show up on the right.

PS2

  1. Load the Start-up CD in your PS2.
  2. Make sure you have the network cable disconnected.
  3. Walk through the Start-Up CD until it starts testing your connection. Since we disconnected the network cable the test will fail.
  4. You can now press the select button which will display the MAC Address.
  5. The 12-digit number is the MAC Address of your PS2.

PS2 Slim

  1. With no disks inserted, turn on the PS2 Slim.
  2. After the "Browser/System Configuration" options appear on the screen, push the Triangle button on the PS2 Slim controller.
  3. On the bottom of the Version screen, you'll see the MAC Address of the PS2 Slim.

PS3

  1. Turn on the PlayStation 3 without any disc in the drive.
  2. Once the PlayStation 3 has booted up, select Settings.
  3. Select System Settings and press the X button.
  4. Scroll until you see System Information and press the X button.
  5. You will see your MAC Address listed on the screen.

PS4

  1. Turn on your PS4 without any disc in the drive and wait for the menu to pop up.
  2. Naviage to the Settings Icon located on the far left.
  3. Select the System Icon under the Settings menu.
  4. Select System Information.
  5. You will see your MAC Address listed on the screen.

Wii

  1. When at the Wii menu screen, click the Wii Icon in the lower left corner.
  2. Select Wii Settings.
  3. Click on the arrow on the right side of the screen to advance to the next page of settings.
  4. Select Internet.
  5. Select Console Information.
  6. You will see your MAC Address listed on the screen.

  1. When at the Wii U menu screen, select System Settings.
  2. Select Internet.
  3. Select View MAC Address.
  4. You will see your MAC Address listed on the screen.

Tivo

  1. Press the Tivo button to go to Tivo Central.
  2. Select Messages and Settings.
  3. Select Phone and Network Setup.
  4. Your MAC Address will be displayed on the top right of the screen.

  1. Press the Home button.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Locate the entry for the MAC Address.

  1. Tap the Nav Arrow at the bottom of the screen to display the Quick Nav Bar.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Device Info.
  4. Tap About Your NOOK.
  5. Locate the entry for MAC Address.

  1. Tap Settings.
  2. Tap General.
  3. Tap About.
  4. Your MAC Address is listed as WiFi Address.

  1. Tap the Menu button on the home screen.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Tap the Menu button again.
  4. Select Device Info.
  5. Scroll down to locate the Wi-Fi MAC Address.

  1. Tap the Settings icon on the home screen.
  2. Tap on More.
  3. Tap on Device.
  4. Scroll down to locate the Wi-Fi MAC Address.

Apple TV

  1. Navigate to the Main Menu on your Apple TV.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select About.
  4. Your MAC Address will be listed as either Wireless ID or Ethernet ID (depending if you have it wireless or plugged in).

Nintendo 3DS

  1. From the Home menu, highlight and select the System Settings Icon.
  2. Select Internet Settings.
  3. Tap Other Information.
  4. Tap Confirm MAC Address.
  5. Your MAC Address will be displayed on the screen.

Smart TV

  1. Find the Make and Model (i.e Visio D70-D3)
  2. Use your preferred search engine and Search for your model and "Find MAC Address"
  3. Once you have the instructions to find your MAC Address of your Smart TV register it on the web link provided above.
