1. Create your audio file

Digital audio recorder

  1. Make sure your recorder has adequate power for the duration of the recording
    1. If the unit is rechargable, check the charge level on the display
    2. If the unit is battery operated, replace depleted batteries
  2. Test the unit
    1. If you haven't used the recorder before, review operating instructions and familiarize yourself with its operation.
    2. Verify that the audio output quality will meet your needs and the needs of your audience.
    3. If your recorder has a microphone jack for an external mic, you may be interested in using a laveleir that clips to your clothing so you don't need to hold the recorder in your hands or set on a table or desk, which would probably degrade the quality of the audio signal.
  3.  Make your recording
    1. Enable the "record" function on your recorder; press "Record" button
    2. Ensure a quality audio signal is reaching the microphone; many units have a level indicator on the display.
    3. Stop the recording when the event is complete.
  4. Transfer your audio file to your computer.

2. Edit your audio file (if you need to)

If you would like to make changes to your audio file, you can do so with a variety of tools listed on our technology page. These changes can be content and/or quality based:

  • Content additions, deletion:
    • mix other audio assets with your recording (e.g., music, sound effects, etc.)
    • shorten; cut out unnecessary sections
    • rearrange order
  • Quality issues
    • increase/reduce gain (volume)
    • reduce distortion/background noise

3. Upload your file to the web
