Tip: print on BOTH SIDES of paper - save paper and 'backpack weight'!

Introduction

Students are allotted 300 pages of black and white printing per semester at no charge. This year, students will print nearly 5 million pages. Just how much is that? Stack it up and it's higher than Gage tower. In fact, that paper is nearly as tall as 15 Gage towers!

Students can reduce the amount of paper nearly in half with two-sided priming.

Print on Both Sides of the paper (Duplex Printing)

Printing on both sides of the paper is called duplex printing. There is currently no discount for discount printing, but you will reduce the amount of printing and resulting waste in half, and you have to carry half the amount of paper.

Total Pages to Print: 4

  • Simplex
    • Paper Sheets: 4
    • Print Cost: 20 cents
  • Duplex
    • Paper Sheets: 2
    • Print Cost: 20 cents

How to do it

  1. In Office 2007 applications click the Office button and Print (Other applications click the “File” menu, select “Print”)
    File Print
  2. In the print window that appears, click the “Properties” button in the upper right-hand corner.
  3. In the new window, click on the “Layout” tab.
  4. The middle section is for Duplex printing. Click on “Flip on Long Edge
  5. Click “OK” to submit your print job to the MavPRINT queue.

You may not have the option to print duplex. This is a problem that we are trying to resolve. Some MavPRINT printers will only print in duplex, however, non-duplex printers will be available in the area for assignments or documents that you do not wish to have printed in duplex.
