The following information should assist you in configuring most Internet software to dial into the MSU Dial-in server. The documentation that comes with the Internet software should help you determine the proper settings.

POP3 downloads your mail to your workstation and removes it from the server. Use this mail protocol if you always read your mail from the same workstation. IMAP keeps your mail on the server until you move it to a local folder on your workstation. If you use several workstations and you want to access your mail from any of them, use this protocol. |

SMTP.MNSU.EDU
This is used to relay mail from your workstation to the recipients mail server. If you are on campus or are using the campus Dial-in server, use this name for relaying messages. WARNING: If you are using another Internet Service Provider, you will need to consult with them on the correct name for this setting. |
