Note: Incoming freshmen accounts become active a few days after they register for classes or attend an orientation session.
MavMAIL: MSU's e-mail system
MavMAIL is Minnesota State Mankato's free web-based e-mail service. MavMAIL provides e-mail, calendar and address books for student, faculty and staff's personal use. All official e-mail communications, including financial aid, billing, and announcements, will be sent to this e-mail address. You can click the link above to log on and start using your mailbox.
Note: incoming freshmen will not be activated on the University's network until two weeks prior to the first term they have registered to attend.
Wireles Access: MavNET
You've probably heard about Minnesota State University, Mankato being one of the nation's most wireless-accessible campuses in the country. This is true! If you have a wireless network card in your notebook computer or other wireless computer device, you can enjoy all the benefits of the wired network.
Free File Storage and Website Hosting: MavDISK
When your coursework requires files that you need to get from any location on, or off campus, get to know MavDISK. This great service gives every student 600Mb of file storage space and website hosting so you can develop your own web site.
Main Computer Lab: Academic Computer Center
The University's Academic Computer Center is filled with almost all the hardware and software you'll need, from word processing to advanced graphics and multimedia capabilities. It opens early and closes late, and is available on weekends as well. There is one of the easiest places to print out your papers and reports, too.
Some satellite labs provide specialized resources. There are satellite computer labs all over campus. Check to see if there's one in your building, including the Residential Halls!
When you visit Memorial Library, you'll see computers on every floor. Some are restricted for searches, but others are available for your use on other projects, or internet research. Check out the Library website for more information on what is available.
Residence Halls Access
If you live on campus, your room has computer network connections. Your computer needs an ethernet card and you will need an ethernet cable. You can find instructions on how to get connected at ResTech Services network setup page.
